Volunteer Statements

Tracey Fulford

"The Centre gave me the opportunity to do my NVQ Level 2 Business Admin. I have now successfully completed my qualification. Although I have a part-time job, I enjoy my experience at the Centre so much that I continue to work at the Centre on a voluntary basis. The way the Centre welcomes you and the relaxed atmosphere makes learning more enjoyable. "

Loretta Bosworth

"A friend introduced me to the Centre. I did some OCN IT courses and was encouraged by the staff to do the NVQ Business Administration level 2 which I have just completed. I am also a volunteer at the centre which I find very rewarding. It gave me the opportunity to meet new people, make new friends and learn about other cultures. "

Nasima Sheikh

"I am a single mum who never worked before as I did not have any confidence or any skills. Since I started at the Centre my whole life has changed for the better. I have gained many skills such as ESOL, Literacy Level 1 Word Processing, and Emergency First Aid and attended a series of confidence building workshops. My reading, writing and speaking in English has improved quite a lot. I have to give credit to Lena who has always helped and supported me. She always encouraged me to try harder and learn more. As well as being a student I am also a volunteer and the caretaker at the Centre. I try to help everywhere I can and support others who also come to the classes. After Anita started work at the Centre, she became my good friend and staff member and she helped me find a job. Today I am working at the Pingles Leisure Centre as a cleaner. I enjoy my job but I still attend the Centre to continue with my computer classes. I hope the Centre carries on helping women like myself and wish them all the best for the future "

Khadija Bakali

"The Multicultural Centre, as the name implies, lives up to its reputation of extending its services to facilitate and enlighten women belonging to diverse backgrounds and at no cost. The Centre helps the ladies regardless of religion, language, colour, status or cast. The Centre helps everyone as best as it can. When I went there as a volunteer, although I was new, I never felt like a stranger. The warmth and the friendliness of all the staff enhanced me with such affection that I became one of their valued volunteers in a short period of time. As I develop deeper association with the Centre, Lena Patel stands out from the crowd. She has been the guiding light, forever instructing, encouraging and providing help whenever I needed it the most. Through the help and advice from the Centre, I have been offered a job as a Community Health Mentor.
I recommend this Centre to all the women living in Nuneaton, especially those who live near the Centre, to benefit from the services "

Kausar Zackaria

"Hi, I am Kausar Zackaria and I help to co-ordinate the activities of the volunteers at NWMRC. I joined NWMRC by doing IT and Word Processing courses. I also started doing voluntary work at the centre and this work has given me confidence, assertiveness and a very positive outlook on life. By doing voluntary work I have learnt a lot about computers and many more things that are done in an office environment. Voluntary work and the centre have given me a lot of experience, positiveness and guidance when needed. "

Stacey Barnett

"Since I joined the centre I have had the opportunity to be able to gain a lot more confidence in myself. I have been able to do an NVQ level 2 in Business Administration which I have successfully completed and this has enabled me to communicate with the public in a professional manner, as I did when I helped with the International Women’s Day event. I have done a lot of IT courses which have given me the confidence that I need to be able to work with computers. I have also been able to use my knowledge of artwork and have designed the children’s display board in the crèche area. "
