About Us

The Centre seeks to empower women to gain first steps ICT skills in a highly disadvantaged area of West Nuneaton and Bedworth. A range of activities tailored to individual's specific needs will be developed and implemented to improve the quality of their lives and those of their families.
The target client group have no or low ICT skills and have been disadvantaged from obtaining these skills through mainstream providers due to cultural and language barriers. We aim to provide suitable facilities within a short walking distance of their homes in an all women environment, which is familiar and sympathetic to their needs, both culturally and linguistically. The needs of the community have driven the project, which will continue to be developed through a number of measures. A variety of integral support measures are in place to ensure access for all women especially targeted groups e.g. disabled access, childcare, multi-lingual support.
The Centre will:
- Provide opportunities for women to learn IT skills, develop confidence with computers, and use the Internet.
- Raise awareness and promote access to training and education in a culturally appropriate way.
- Support projects within the Centre that promote employment and enterprise development prospects, recreational opportunities and social activities.
- Support self-help initiatives in the community by outreach work.
- Respond to social, cultural and educational needs of women.
- Provide information and guidance on service provision across statutory and voluntary agencies and act as a reference/referral point for services.
- Identify and encourage the development of programmes that help overcome barriers preventing women from fully participating in training, employment and other regeneration programmes.
- Encourage women to become aware of their skills and help them develop to their full potential.
- Encourage progression to other learning provision or services available.
